JV Game

It is now Official. We will be traveling to Warren for a JV game next Saturday, 11-1. The bus will leave for the game at 8:00.

Football Banquet

The Banquet has been set up for December 14th. It will be a pot-luck supper. We are asking each family to bring a single dish large enough to feed your family. I really like Pot lucks. I am glad the booster club has voted on this!

Additional JV Game

We are working on setting up another JV game for next Saturday. We have an offer from Harbor Creek to play them, and Warren has said that they may have a JV team to play as well. We will go to Warren if they indeed do have a team. If they do not, we will know by the end of today, then we will travel to Harbor Creek.

General McLane

Traditionally, General McLane has been a big rival for Northwestern. Since GM became a triple A school and we moved out of the ECL, the rivalry has lost some of its punch. This year GM is not so worried about the Wildcats because they are looking only at our record and game scores. What they may not be seeing is the hard hitting defense or the deceptive offense which has become a trademark for this rejuvenated program.
This week the defense must play disciplined, rule-based football to slow the GM option attack. We will not stop them completely, but we will slow them down and force them into some tough 3rd down situations. In the mean time, the offense will execute precise plays and dominate the clock thus keeping the Lancer offense on the sidelines.
Come to the Lancers field, only 10 minutes away, and help cheer the hard-working Wildcats to a victory against this rival. A 500 season is within our reach! We will give you 4 quarters of play this week because we BELIEVE, and the seniors are going to leave their mark and legacy for future teams to follow!

Believe in Perfection

As a team, last night, the Wildcats decided to set a goal of TEAM perfection. We all know that we will not ever reach individual perfection (only one human has ever reached that goal), but we are striving for perfection as a TEAM during the final 3 games this year. The TEAM believes that we will win the remaining 3 games. When you set a goal for perfection, if you do not achieve the goal of Perfection you will reach excellence.

BELIEVE IN THE CATS

I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle - victorious.

T-Shirts for Warren Game

Some of my Sophomore in my World Cultures classes have taken the initiative to create and sell shirts for the Black out game. They have found them from a local vendor for $10. The shirts will say "back in black" on the front and have the date of the last game on the back. Some additional artwork will be added for appearance. Please email me immediately if you are interested in purchasing one. I need your shirt size as well. If we place the order quickly, we will have them in plenty of time for the game.

Girard Game

I am very pleased with the effort put forth by the team as a whole. We fought hard throughout the game. The loss came when we stopped doing the things we were supposed to do. All players have to remember that they have a job to do on every play and if we do that job then we put ourselves in a position to win. If I have any complaint it would relate to the attitude of some player during the game. While most of the team was cheering us on others began pointing fingers. We are a family and must support each other against all opponents! I definitely do not condone the tirades which were seen on the sidelines and all will be dealt with on an individual basis.

Our future is in our hands. What we make of our future is for us to decide. Are we the team of old, or are we ready to move forward. I am moving forward!!

BELIEVE

The word for the week going into Maplewood was Believe. Since that week we have focused on that word. Slowly the team has begun to BELIEVE that they deserve what they are getting. WE do deserve to win. Believe that this is true and we will continue to succeed.

Girard Game

We will leave the school tomorrow @ 4:45 for Girard. Parents, the boys asked if they could wear their practice pants for the White out game. I told them IF all the pants came clean I would allow it. I doubt they will come clean. If you have been working on them, thank you on behalf of the boys, but I am not holding my breath that they will all come clean. Do not worry if you are not able to get them clean.

Thursday Practice

We will be practicing late today due to a Faculty meeting for Coach Hough and myself. We will go on the field at 4:00 and finish at 5:30. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Tuesday, October 7, 2008

The booster club will be running one last chance on the clothing orders. See Coach Shaw for an order form or call Mrs. Panko at 814-756-5081. Orders should be in no later than Friday, October 10, 2008. Turn in orders to Mrs. Panko. She will see you at practice and the game and will have extra order forms if you need them. The items will be in for senior night for sure.

The Student Council would like the football team present for the Bonfire. I would like to have the athletes at the fire at 7:15 in their Black Jerseys. We will enter the fire area at 7:30 and do our pre-game chant. Please show your school spirit and attend the bonfire.
